Services for Families

Divorce Coaching

What is a Divorce Coach?

Divorce coaches are licensed mental health professionals (psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists) or mediators, who have received specialized training in communication and collaborative divorce. Divorce Coaches are not legal specialists, but assist attorneys and other collaborative professionals. Divorce Coaches do not work as sole practitioners but as part of a team to ensure that clients are fully supported through the divorce process.

I am trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as completed the required training in collaborative law and mediation.

Couples/Relationship Counseling

  • Do you want to end the constant fighting?
  • Do you want to move on from gridlocked issues that have undermined your relationship for too long?
  • Has infidelity or an emotional affair brought your relationship to the breaking point?
  • Do you want to trust your partner again?
  • Do you want to start talking again, instead of tolerating each other in silence and avoidance?
  • Has remarriage and blending your families been harder than you ever imagined?
  • Do you want to rekindle your sense of fun, closeness and intimacy?
  • Are you clear that your relationship is over and want assistance to make that ending as kind, compassionate and constructive as possible?

Blended Families

Children - Teens - Couples - Single Parents - Individuals

Approximately 75% of the 1.2 million Americans who divorce each year will eventually remarry. Many have children and even with the best of intentions can find step-family life more complex than they ever imagined.

Divorce Adjustment

Children - Teens - Adults

We enter into our newly formed marriage and partnership with the best of intentions. The decision to end a significant relationship can be a difficult and challenging process that leaves everyone depleted, confused and anxious about the future and how to move forward. It is difficult not to perceive divorce as a personal failure. Therapy can assist in working through those feelings, make sense of the end of ones relationship, and obtain a new perspective and healing.

Grief Support for Pet Loss

For many people a pet is not "just a dog" or "just a cat." For some of us, our pet is a closely revered friend, providing way to give and receive a daily dose of acceptance and unconditional love in our lives with a purity that can be hard to find elsewhere. Pets are beloved members of the family. When you lose or are in the process of losing a beloved companion pet the sense of loss can feel overwhelming, traumatic and very significant.

Adoption

Children - Teens - Parents - Adults Adoptees

Difficulties related to adoption are less socially recognized and can be more profound when left unresolved. Whether children or adults, even when parented by the most committed, loving and sincere parents, those who have had the experience of being adopted and losing connection with birth parents can find themselves more vulnerable to depression, anxiety and social isolation. Adoptees often experience increased difficulties in bonding effectively with caregivers and in their adult relationships.
